My family and I are embarking on a farm diversification project which is to build roadside services at Mains of Luther, on the A90 Luthermuir junction. The project proposal currently includes a fuel station, farm shop and service area which will serve home cooked food, studio retail units, evening/weekend steak barn/firepit eatery (which will sell rustic food like burgers, steaks, chips and onion rings) and 3* hotel accommodation.

The aim of the project is to sell everything that is local and unique to the area, providing a sense of place to the traveller and stocking local products in the farm shop. We want to use meat reared on the family farm or sourced from farmers near by to sell in the butchery and use in the kitchen. With no franchises and tea and coffee supplied from locally roasted or grown suppliers, we want to provide a unique sense of the Mearns and Aberdeenshire to the customer. This concept for motorway services has already been successful for the Westmoreland Family who run Tebay and Gloucester Services, some of you may have already visited them before and experienced it first hand.

Part of the planning process was to hold public consultation events to find out the views of local residents. If anyone missed the events then you can view the boards below. Your views are important – comments can be sent to planning@hfm.co.uk until 3rd April 2017.

Please come and visit our Facebook page to hear more about our project and keep up to date with developments.
