The eighth meeting of the season took place on 8 April 2025 at the Panmure Arms Hotel, Edzell. Our President welcomed everyone to the meeting where we enjoyed a two-course supper before our speaker for the night, Anne Magarin from Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland, gave us a presentation on the charity’s work. Anne moved to Scotland in 2010 having worked in various industries, including Tourism and IT, before settling in the Third Sector in 2015 when she moved to Aberdeen as the fundraiser for Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland.
Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland provide advice and community support for people living with these conditions, as well as Long Covid, in Scotland. This can take the form of peer group support, stroke nurses, kindness callers, health information and physical therapy. They also offer to support to individuals who have been involved in performing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and who are struggling to come to terms with processing their experience during a critically stressful time. They are also lobbying for the correct type of rehabilitation for Stroke sufferers to allow them to return to independent living as soon as possible. Included in Anne’s presentation was current video inputs from people who had benefitted from support by the charity explaining the difference the involvement and support had made to them and their families lives at what was an incredibly stressful time for them. Club members thoroughly enjoyed Anne’s presentation and her passionate delivery.
As always, new members for next season 2025-2026 will be warmly welcomed and if you feel you would like to join Inner Wheel, or help with knitting or sewing, please contact Innerwheeldistrict1@outlook.com
