The ninth and final business meeting of the season took place on 14 May 2025 at the Panmure Arms Hotel, Edzell. Our May meeting is when we disburse cheques to groups and clubs in our local area and this year, we supported groups such as the Brownies, Foodbanks and those who work to enhance the appearance of our villages – Laurencekirk Hanging Baskets Group, Laurencekirk Christmas Lights Group and Edzell Gardening Group. People living in these villages appreciate the work that goes into organising and carrying out these worthwhile initiatives and we hope the donations we have made to the Groups help them in their work.
Recipients are asked to attend our meeting to receive their cheques, when we are interested to hear how they intend to use our donation, the funds for which have been raised at our annual Inner Wheel Bazaar.
Over the Summer months, our members attend various locally organised events when we aim to raise the profile of Inner Wheel. In the past, members have attended Laurencekirk Gala events and fund-raising events at Mearns Academy. Keep an eye out for us modelling our Inner Wheel t-shirts, say ‘hello’ and come and hear what Inner Wheel has to offer.
We take a two-month summer break but before then, we have our final catch up in June which will see our members visiting Stonehaven RNLI station. The RNLI is a charity close to the heart of Inner Wheel members and one which we have supported this year. Following our tour of the lifeboat station, we will enjoy friendship at one of Stonehaven’s many restaurants. We re-convene on 9 September 2025 when we look forward to a full and interesting syllabus.
