The third meeting of the season took place on Tuesday 11 November 2025 at the Panmure Arms Hotel, Edzell. Our President, Marion, welcomed members and our speaker for the evening, District Chairman Lynda Taylor. Lynda talked to members about her personal journey through Inner Wheel. Having joined in 2005, Lynda has held various positions. She joined the Association Finance Committee in 2020 going on to become a member of the Executive Team in 2021 as District Treasurer then as first Vice Chairman in 2024. She will have a busy year visiting clubs in District 1, catching up with old friends and making new acquaintances. Lynda thanked members of Laurencekirk Inner Wheel for the service they undertake within their local community, for supporting overseas charities such as Water Aid and for providing financial assistance to countries which have suffered due to natural disasters.
Lynda was particularly keen to highlight the work of Inner Wheel for “Orange the World” and the planned activities from 25 November onwards. Lynda emphasised that the purpose of these activities was to stop violence towards women and children. Look out for posters in Laurencekirk and for Inner Wheel members sporting their orange poppies which were kindly supplied by two of our talented members.
Lynda’s chosen charity this year is “Maggie’s Centres”. Having seen first-hand the excellent work and support provided by Maggie’s to support people living with cancer, Lynda was keen to help further their work through the service of Inner Wheel Clubs in District 1.
All at Laurencekirk wish Lynda well during her time as District Chairman and look forward to hearing about her visits to other clubs in District 1.
As always, we would warmly welcome new members. We are always keen to have support with our knitted squares, by sewing squares into blankets – one of our members has been taking crocheting lessons and will now be able to make lovely borders on our blankets. We also collect stamps, ring pulls and underwear for “Smalls for All”. If you feel you can help with any of these, or would be interested in becoming a member, please contact innerwheeldistrict1@outlook.com
