Mearns and Coastal Healthy Living Network gardening groups for older people have been having a lot of fun making our local area look beautiful.

The Mearns group have been busy gardening with pupils from Laurencekirk primary school, planting up a beautiful display at Laurencekirk train station using the Olympic games theme – they have represented the flags of a variety of countries around the world using plants, and have planted Olympic rings and even an Olympic torch!

The new Portlethen group have planted up whisky barrel planters along each platform of Portlethen train station, and also planters around the village, which have helped make the area look cared for and colourful.

The Portlethen group is looking for new members and also for younger volunteers to help.
